No. Lubechem Consultant is an independent Indian lubricant formulation house. We are not a licensee, distributor or partner of Lubrizol Corporation. The custom additive packages we build are functionally equivalent — not branded as Lubrizol products. Lubrizol Corporation (Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary since 2011, HQ Cleveland OH) is a standalone supplier we do not represent.

Can custom equivalents replicate exact Lubrizol performance?

For DI packages the ASTM performance gap is typically under 5%. We analyse the target Lubrizol product by GC-MS (chromatographic species map), ICP-OES (elemental — Ca, Mg, Zn, P, S, Mo, B), FTIR (functional group fingerprint), TBN by D2896 and viscosity by D445. We then rebuild the chemistry family with equivalent treat rates.

What is the minimum order quantity?

500 kg for custom DI packages, 200 kg for VII / PPD, 100 kg for single-component additives (ZDDP, detergent, antioxidant). For Lubrizol-branded products through their Mumbai office the MOQ is typically 5,000 kg per code per shipment. Our smaller MOQ suits private-label blenders, regional aftermarket brands, and OEM-tier specialty applications where Lubrizol's volume requirement does not match the customer's run rate.

Do you transfer formula IP to the client?

Yes. The signed engagement transfers the full BOM, suppliers, treat rates and QC method to the client at project closeout. The client owns the formulation IP and can manufacture in-house, contract-manufacture, or take it to a different additive supplier. This is the opposite of the Lubrizol / Afton / Infineum model where the additive package recipe stays with the supplier and the blender is locked in. Our consultancy fee is one-time; there is no recurring license.

Can the custom DI pass API licensing?

Yes — the custom DI is taken through full API SP / CK-4 / FA-4 sequence testing in API-listed labs (Southwest Research Institute SwRI, Intertek Caleb Brett, or Indian equivalent BIS-recognised lab for IS 13656). Once sequence passes, the API license can be issued in the client's brand name.

Sequence testing cost is typically $250,000-400,000 USD for a full PCMO API SP set; we coordinate the testing campaign and the API submission as part of the engagement.
