QC via ASTM lubricant & grease testing: drop >260 °C, 4-ball weld 400+ kgf, FE9 bearing life F50 >50,000 hr, false brinelling SNR-FEB2 pass, D665B salt spray pass, D942 oxidation <3 kPa @ 100 hr. All slow-speed (<20 RPM main, <0.5 RPM yaw) very-high-load bearings requiring 20+ year service life, weather exposure (-30 to +60 °C, salt spray offshore), minimal maintenance access (100 m tower).
Polyurea NLGI 1/2 with synthetic PAO base is standard. Treat ~5-15 kg per bearing per re-greasing cycle (every 6-12 months automated). Large turbine (3 MW+) consumes 30-50 kg grease/year total.

Offshore wind (limited India deployment, Gujarat / Tamil Nadu projects emerging) faces salt spray + higher humidity. Enhanced salt-water rust (D665B), longer service interval (limited maintenance access), often biodegradable VGP-compliant for marine spill compliance.
Onshore wind (dominant India — Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan) uses standard polyurea polymer + mineral / PAO base. Same Klueber / SKF / Mobil / Shell brands span both; offshore-specific grades are different SKUs.

Lithium complex EP2 typical FE9 F50 = 2,000-5,000 hr. Polyurea premium FE9 F50 = 20,000-100,000 hr. Wind turbine grease must pass FE9 + additional false-brinelling (Fafnir / SNR-FEB2) for small-amplitude oscillation in light-wind conditions.
